Miniature 1 24th Scale Dolls House Art

Very Popular tiny 1/2 size paintings

I am getting hooked on painting this very tiny !:24 size pieces of my art …..

They are being very well received with lots of comments plus orders and commissions. I do like to present my art i the best way possible so my husband and I made a little set to display them on, normally I paint to 1;12 scale so this is half that size and my Gallery and easels etc are the wrong scale to show these tiny pieces off.

Bank Holiday weekend and it rained !!

While I have been painting in miniature this weekend, tiny pieces for 1 24th scale dolls houses. My husband Adrian has been building me a tiny easel to fit these miniature paintings for me to display them on for taking photographs.

1:24 Scale Dolls House Furniture

Painting Tiny Art

I was recently asked if I painted for 1:24 scale. Which I hadn’t before, but I took the commission as you may know from reading my blog I do love a challenge …… I painted a tiny cottage landscape just 1 inch by 1 1/4 inches, following showing this I have sold a couple more paintings for this scale dolls house and been asked to do more commissions.

I showed these tiny pieces on Facebook and have had a lot of comments, this has lead me to paint more pictures in the scale and this week I decided to try something different.

My 1:12 (the size I mostly paint for ) dolls house screens / room dividers have always been very popular. Each being an original painting as a unique piece of miniature furniture. So I decided to try some at this smaller scale.

Quote about dolls house scales

“The most common standard for
adult collectors is 1:12 scale, also called 1″ or one inch scale (where 1 foot is represented by 1 inch.) Among adult collectors there are also smaller scales which are much more common in the United States than in Britain. 1:24 or half inch scale (1 foot is 1/2″) was popular in Marx dollhouses in the 1950s but only became widely available in collectible houses after 2002, about the same time that even smaller scales became more popular, like 1:48 or quarter inch scale (1 foot is 1/4″) and 1:144 or “dollhouse for a dollhouse” scale.”

Painted in Encaustic Wax paints on specialist gloss card. I have backed the panels with card and the back has a coloured card backing to cover up the paper tape that creates the concertina effect.

Approximately 7.5 cm high with each panel 2 cm wide. They are delicate pieces of furniture.

It is great fun and very challenging painting this tiny.

Hope you like these new tiny pieces of art and furniture. My Husband Adrian made me this little set up help me get my eye in for this tiny scale. And it makes a lovely way to display the art and screens.

I will be painting more in this scale, in fact I have four to paint as a commission for a collector in Scotland who has a country cottage style dolls house 1:24 scale. I will also be listing pieces in my Etsy show over the next few weeks too.

Art Exhibition Dolls’ House Landscape Paintings 2018 :: Posted by: Hazel on January 25th, 2018

New Miniature Art Exhibition : Dollhouse Landscape Paintings

Today I have launched a new collection of my miniature dollhouse art, this is a mini exhibit on my art exhibition page here on the Art In Wax website, the exhibition has 6 dolls house size paintings, all painted this month, January 2018.

Inspired to paint Spring Landscapes

I was inspired to paint these pretty Spring landscapes, as it been a cold month and I love Spring so this was what I came up with while thinking of fresh Spring days to come.

Each painting in the collection is 2 x 2 inches, and are a variety of landscapes, not a theme as such but each in a similar style and feel to the others in this collection, pretty countries walks with the blossom in the trees, two have vintage style caravans in a countryside setting, maybe a glamping holiday retreat ? Another has a pretty cottage in the distance and one has a river or canal boat in the scenic setting.

They are shown on display in my own 1:12 scale “dolls house” size miniature property, which is an Art Gallery named The Gallery. If you have read me blog before you will know The Gallery is my folly and a lovely miniature property built for me by my husband Adrian for me to house some of my own miniature pictures, which are forever changing.

Circus Clowns Miniature Art :: Posted by: Hazel on January 14th, 2018

Circus Clown Paintings

And now for something very different…….

I’m having fun with the clowns !!

I’ve never painted clowns befor, but today was the day !! Sometimes I don’t know where the initial idea comes from, I’ve not been to the circus since I was a child, but it just came to me as a fun idea. I love painting flowers and landscapes, and do paint them often but as you will know if you read my blog and perhaps visit my Facebook page I love to paint all sorts of subjects and themes. My fairy paintings for example are very popular, and I love the way I can just my imagination flow along with the wax, when painting these fantasy pieces. Likewise these clowns pictures allow for an abstract fun element to my work. Each is 2 x 1 1/2 inches. The silver edge is painted on so part of the picture.

These miniature collectible and dollhouse original paintings are painted in encaustic hot Wax paint on specialist gloss card are for sale in my Etsy store : https://www.etsy.com/uk/shop/ArtInWax
