Painting an Encaustic Rose
Video Demonstration of Encaustic (Hot Wax) Painting
As an encaustic artist lots of people are amazed when they see my paintings and I tell them the paintings are created in wax, many people haven’t heard of encaustic art and those who have are often surprised at the detail of my paintings and ask “how do you do that”. I have in the past made a photo demo which is here my blog, giving a photo story board of how I paint a daisy but now we have made a video.
Making A Video of this Art In Wax Rose
Filming me paint this pink rose is our first experience of making an online video, my husband is a great photographer but video is new to both of us. We are going to make more demos and learnt a lot from this first experiment, the next one will have more close ups, so please feel free to subscribe to my channel for more updates.
A Single Stem Rose
I chose a pink single stem rose for the video as it is one of my favourite flowers to paint and as such something I paint often, we have kept the video short as it took a long time to upload, edit etc.
Watch me paint!
In this video I am using an A5 gloss card, encaustic art coloured wax and an encaustic iron to paint with. I create a light background to start with and then add wax directly onto the iron to melt before using the iron in a similar way to using a palette knife to paint with.
We hope you like our video and please feel free to leave a comment here or on youtube.
