Pink Azalea – Painting in Wax
Painting Inspiration
I was recently given an Azalea pot plant which has been sitting on our kitchen window sill for a couple of weeks now and has just started to open and bloom into an amazing plant, the pink and white flowers are light and the dark green leaves giving a wonderful contrast.
I find all types of flowers and plants inspiring so simply had to paint this beautiful plant. This is an A4 size picture on encaustic gloss card using a simply palette of coloured wax. Pink Azalea …. all my art is impressionistic and this is no exception, this painting has a great shine and as the light catches it the flowers really come to life. The painting looks more delicate in real life, the photograph makes it look heavier than it is, but I enjoyed painting this subject so thought I would show it here in the blog today ……
Roses are next on my todo list as I have a vase of orange blooms just waiting for me the paint.
