Modern Miniature Dolls House Paintings
In these extraordinary times, staying at home, staying as safe as we can, caring for our family and being there at a distance for our friends and neighbours, we need to be mindful and for me creativity is so, so helpful.
So I’ve been in my studio this week, and this is what I’ve come up with, these are my latest miniature paintings. I love painting flowers and I’m sure I will be painting lots more over the coming weeks.
A New Collection “Flowers : Bringing The Outdoors In”
These four new flower pieces are painted in my Encaustic wax paint onto a mount card so 2mm deep, they have a modern canvas style, I’ve painted the background and the edges have some coverage by the card on the back is white. More paintings in different style will branch off from this collection I’m sure.
Shown below in my 1:12th scale art gallery, size above is in 1:12th Lounge setting to show how the size is relative. The two larger ones, Lavender and Daisy are 3 x 2 inches and Anemone and Blossom are 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches.

My latest paintings ……

They are fun, but a real challenge…… these were not my first attempts !!!!

Original Miniature Art Wedding Stationery :: Posted by: Hazel on November 10th, 2019
How Miniature Art In Wax became part of a very special day.
Earlier this year a friend asked me to help her create the place cards for her wedding.
She and her husband to be, love country style and with a special infinity for all things “Stag and Doe”. She showed me the cake topper she had bought for the cake and with this in mind I painted the little miniature painting of the kissing Stag and Doe heads. The cake was a silver birch style which you can see in the photographs below.
Miniature Art
Painted in my Encaustic wax paints onto gloss card, the miniature painting is just 2 x 1 1/2 inches and is shown below in a tiny wooden frame painted black 2 x 2 1/2 inches. My husband took a photograph of the painting which after cropping became part of the wedding place card design.
Now the wedding has taken place I can show these …..
Wedding Stationery
As the idea evolved my friend and I designed her wedding invitations to match, and the wedding stationery theme was created.
Using my miniature painting, (a rarity ! I don’t often allow prints of my artwork) we created the wedding stationery design, which was then printed and the bride made her invitations and place cards, layering the printed card on gold and green card stock.
Unique Table Settings
The card holders were individually made by the grooms son, beautiful walnut wood craved and with a tree of life medallion set in. A very talented craftsman, he also made a wonderful Oak centre piece and Pine cake stand for the occasion. The wood was also local and sourced In the Southend and Wakering area by the family as they are arborists for their business.
I’m very proud to have my painting part of this wonderful occasion, we have had a fabulous week being part of the wedding with our great friends.
