The Ice Cream Parlour Collection

Following on from my January post called the Wedding Store I thought it would be fun to make a back drop for my Ice Cream Parlour themed paintings. These delicious delights, the paintings I mean ! have been extremely well received, the paintings, signs, together with the bill boards. I was amazed how last year so many of these went into miniature dollhouse properties, seems ice cream parlour in miniature are very popular.

This is a little film I did today to look at the new and recent paintings……

The Ice Cream Parlour …..Well paintings of ice cream, maybe I should call it the ice cream art gallery.

Great Fun

It is great fun to paint these pretty treats, I personally love Ice cream, vanilla is my go to but on occasion I love a chocolate sundae and have been know to have the “full works” now and then !!!

The paintings shown are varied and range from mixed media pieces that I have printed part of the background, the words and border. Others are full encaustic wax.

My miniature dolls house paintings including many of these pieces are available to buy from my Etsy Store

Summer Holiday – painting challenge :: Posted by: Hazel on July 13th, 2014

Painting Challenge ; Summer Holiday Theme

In an online arts forum I am a member of one of the contributor suggested we had a little challenge and the topic of “Summer Holiday” was agreed upon. This was just a fun challenge between a few fellow artists but the only thing was that it was to be different from our normal style …… so no wax for me in the challenge!

Ice Cream

Nothing says summer holiday to me more than ice cream, it is my favorite summer treat.

My husband Adrian and I live on the South East Coast of England, in Southend on Sea. Which since the Georgian era has been a popular Seaside resort, and has the longest pleasure pier in the world.

So it seemed only fitting that as we live by the sea that I should choose an ice cream as my subject. I pondered what to paint it in, considered watercolors but I do love sketching with the elegant writer water soluble pen I bought recently so, that is what I did …… and the sketch below, on the right is the result, its is sketch and wash on a canvas board 7 x 5 inches.

And then for fun I painted a couple of ice cream cones in wax too ….. onto Gloss card one is A5 and the other a miniature ACEO.

What do you think ? Did it make you think of Summer ?
