The Gallery Miniature Art By Hazel Rayfield
So today I’ve been in The Gallery……
The Gallery is my 1:12th Miniature Art Gallery that my husband Adrian built for me a few years ago, and as I’m sure many miniature and dollhouse creators and collectors will be able to relate to …… it is forever evolving.
Adrian has never built a full miniature property before, he is very patient and meticulous making a beautiful miniature property that I have filled with tiny pieces of my art. I just love it !!!
As I say it is evolving and I like to add things and change thing around from time to time. Today I have been replacing some older pictures and adding a few in the gaps, there isn’t much wall space left now !
Just some of today’s changes, the parrot paintings replace the flowers pots and the roses replace the vase of blooms.
How about a little tour ….. Please see at the bottom of this post a tour of The Gallery today once I finished my picture hanging.
Filming yourself hanging a painting on the wall of a miniature property is not easy lol

Art Deco Miniature Dolls House Paintings :: Posted by: Hazel on November 25th, 2019
A new collection of miniature paintings
Art Deco
Today it’s just a quick post to show off my latest miniature paintings.
This is my new collection ! I’ve been working on it recently and it was launched online this weekend and it is getting lots of attention I’m thrilled to say, some of these are now sold, others are in my Etsy store and I painted a couple as commissions too.
I don’t like to give labels but these, new lady and dressing room pieces all have my interpretation of an Art Deco style to them. They work for both period or modern settings, I’ve had lots of fun painting dresses and fashion styling ……. what’s not to love.
I have given some of them names …..
The top row for example is
“cherry cocktail club” which is 2 3/4 inches by 2 1/4 inches in size
”the fan club” a mixed media piece, the fan in the background is one of my digital graphics printed onto card before painting
“cocktail bar” sees our lady in her flapper dress getting a glass of champagne from the barman in the art deco style setting

Painting Sweet Peas Encaustic Art Video :: Posted by: Hazel on July 8th, 2019
Painting Miniature Art In Wax
This week we have taken some video snippets of me painting in my studio, using both my heated stylus tools and mini hot plate and of course encaustic wax paint.
These tiny flower vases are very small …. as are the snippets of me painting, these are not demonstration videos just a bit of fun to show a little of what’s been going on this week. Plus to be honest we got the giggles …. and no the out takes have been deleted.
I do love painting flowers, and they are very popular with miniature dollhouse and miniature art collectors, as they suit many types of dolls house setting, from period to modern, from houses to shops and diorama.
Here you can see me painting some pretty bright flowers in hot wax using my mini hot plate as I add some background to the flowers I will paint later in the next video.
I do love painting flowers ….. flower vase part 1 As you may know I’m a encaustic artist painting in miniature for dollhouse and miniature art collectors. Here you can see me painting in hot wax using my mini hot plate as I add some background to the flowers I will paint later …. see the next video for that.

Norfolk Broads Paintings Father and Daughter :: Posted by: Hazel on June 23rd, 2019
Father and Daughter Artists.

Norfolk Broads 1958
My dad has been painting, as a hobby for many many years, he painted this cottage landscape in 2003 from a photographic slide he took when he was on a boating holiday on the Norfolk Broads in 1958.
I took the photograph of the painting on the fence in his garden a couple of weeks ago
The painting which we call “Dads Place” is approximately 32 x 24 inches and is actually one of his smaller pieces, Dad paints on hardboard in Acrylic and then seals with varnish so they can stay outside. Some come in for the winter. We jokingly call this his “hardboard art”
My Miniature Interpretation
So this week I have painted this cottage landscape picture, well my interpretation of it, in my style using my Encaustic paint and in miniature of course. My piece is 2 3\4 inches by 1 3/4 inches approximately.
If you have read my blog or Facebook feed, you will know I don’t paint copies of paintings, all my work is original, I’m inspired by what I see and what I have in my imagination…. I do work from photographs occasionally and my own doodles. But this was one of my most challenging paintings to date, I hope I do justice to Dad’s work.
My Dad is in his 80’s now and we thought it would be fun to show some of his work here today. So together with this picture in question these are a couple of Dads other hardboard art pieces. The pink windmill is called “Horning Mill” my husband and I actually stumbled upon it ourselves a few years ago when visiting Norfolk, great to see it in person after seeing the painting all these years.
