Miniature Paintings Celebrating VE Day

These are my new paintings, there are three pieces with a theme, miniature dollhouse art, shown here in my 1:12th Art Gallery, inspired by the VE Day celebrations of VE 75 here in England in 2020. Victory in Europe (VE) Day on 8 May 1945 is the day celebrating the end of World War II.

“Fly By Poppies”

Displayed and sold in a gold effect frame the overall size being 2 1/4 by 2 3/4 inches this landscape has aircraft flying over a poppy field.

“Wave”

Vintage clothed people standing in a poppy field, waving and waving flags as a plane flys over head, the size of this piece is 2 1/8 by 1 5/8th inches.

“Street Party”

A misty impression of a back drop with Big Ben in the distance gives this piece a sense of the day, Londoners having a party in the street dressed in vintage clothes, they could be of the time or more modern times dressed for a vintage fashion party, you decide. This piece 3 1/2 by 2 1/2 inches so a statement size piece for a dollhouse, I have sold many paintings this size for 1:12th or larger Scale dolls houses plus it is ACEO size so could be a nice addition for a collection.

Miniature Art In Wax in Dolls Houses Worldwide :: Posted by: Hazel on January 29th, 2020

A wonderful Collection of Miniature Dolls Houses

A fellow miniaturist Linda whom I follow on Instagram recently showed her collectible dolls houses in her feed and some were showing my art inside and she has allowed me to share these, and other new photos she has sent me, with you on my blog.

Art in dollhouse

Linda tells me

“I have several houses, a large Victorian, a modern colonial and an English stone cottage that is my witches house.”

“Your art is so beautiful in person”

Linda has several of my paintings in her houses and has also used them as part of her seasonal displays.  It is so lovely to see my paintings in their new homes, it really brings them to life.

When Linda says “they are so beautiful in person”, I’m really pleased, this is the comment and feedback I get more than any others, the depth of colour, texture and sheen of working in the Encaustic medium  is not shown to its fullest in photographs and selling my art online is a challenge at times as the image is all there is to go on for a collector.

I think you will agree these miniature properties look amazing, the patience and detail …… just WOW.

Miniature 1:12 witches dollhouse

The basket flower in this beautiful room in her house, the northern lights in her modern colonial house and a “Tree of Life” style picture which is one of my favourites and looks amazing  in the stone cottage.

This Tree of Life piece has layers of encaustic wax paint on a black encaustic card that I have scratched and painted with hints of gold wax for the leaves. The painting has been backed onto card, the edge has been painted to give the effect of a framed border and to give an idea of the ratio thus piece is 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches in size.

Room Boxes Seasonal Displays

I just love how miniatures can we displayed, I often say “miniatures are not just for Dolls houses”.

These Instagram posts of amazing seasonal displays, which are room boxes “Cleaning up ready for Halloween” and Christmas Holiday which she has used my paintings in too are just delightful and so detailed, the more you look the more you see.

Dollhouse Directory Miniature Art In Wax :: Posted by: Hazel on October 14th, 2019

Dollhouse Directory

I don’t often do blog posts about other websites but just wanted to thank Rosie of the Dollhouse Directory for adding my work and site to her new website, which is growing all the time with new miniature stores ……

I hope that you enjoy our site and use it often. While this dream started as a simple directory for all things miniature, we are now working on a new dream as well – that of making this site a community home for all miniature enthusiasts. We will remain link-based, meaning that we link to the sites of our contributors rather than having the content on our site. However we will also be bringing the community together for online seasonal events and weekly newsletter updates. We will be showcasing your creations alongside those of our talented artisan and shop contributors.

Ballet Miniature Dolls House Paintings :: Posted by: Hazel on September 7th, 2019

The Ballet

New collection of miniature art

Dollhouse ballerina paintings

Last week I painted 5 ballerina style paintings and put them on display in my miniature art gallery and one of my collectors asked if she could buy them, so they are off to Wales.

These were ….

Nutcracker ….. a Christmas tree in the background a tiny painting just 1 1/4 inches wide.

Swan Lake …… the blue one with a forest backdrop and a lake floor 2 x 1 1/2 inches

Cinderella …. her carriage just peeking into view  2 x 2 inches.

Plus “Ballet Practice” And Prima Ballerina with the curtailed call.

Great Fun to paint

They are great fun to paint and so I thought maybe do some other different ones, and they are proving very popular ….. some of these are still for sale in my etsy shop.

Fairy Ballerina …… from sleeping beauty maybe?
Swan Lake Balletahain this time with a green forest backdrop
Cinderella Ballerina a tiny piece with a carriage of course
Christmas Ballet ….. perhaps the nutcracker
Red Ballerina ….. taking a curtain call from the Firebird Ballet maybe ?

Commission a miniature dollhouse painting

I have also been asked to paint a couple paintings as a commission in this style, so the fun continues

Any requests ? Please contact me if  you like me to paint a miniature ballerina for you ?
