Celebrating 10 Years of Art In Wax
Thank You …… wow 10 years.
I have been painting in a Encaustic for 10 years, I had my first encaustic kit and paint at Easter in 2011, a gift from my husband Adrian. You can read more about my history on my website artist profile page .
I want to say a big thank you …..
Thank you everyone, my collectors and friends, who have support and encouraged me today and in the past 10 years of Art In Wax, and especially Adrian …… I couldn’t do it without you.
Many of you have inspired and challenged me with your commission requests.
Every reviews and comment is appreciated and it is such a joy when you show me your wonderful dollhouse creations with my art on display.
Selling a piece of art is always exciting and never taken for granted, painting in Encaustic is my passion and never more so than now in my 10th year.
Thank You
Hazel x

Art Exhibition “Mannequin”
Inside The Gallery this morning….
A new art exhibition…… “Mannequin” the video below shows what I’ve been painting recently.
The Gallery is my 1:12th scale Art gallery which today has on display my latest collection of dolls house paintings. These miniature paintings are based on the theme of mannequin dressed with Vintage style lingerie….. there is also a dress painting which ties to the theme as a Dressing Room perhaps a ladies maid getting the dresses ready or it could be a dress shop.

Encaustic Wax paintings in Miniature.
If you have read my blog before you will know I am an Encaustic artist with a passion for painting in hot wax paint….. especially in miniature
I paint using branded wax medium which I melt and paint with using a collection of heat tools. These range from specialist encaustic irons and stylus heat tools, with various nibs and tips some of which my husband has adapted the tips of so I can paint tiny. I also use a hot plate and craft heat gun, all of which go into the creating my paintings in varying ways.

Vintage Car Landscape Miniature Art By miniature artist Hazel Rayfield :: Posted by: Hazel on June 9th, 2016
Vintage Car Landscape
New Miniature Art
With father’s day approaching I thought I would try something different, so this miniature painting is for my Dad.
Its a landscape with a green vintage car, its not a specific car, we can in trouble saying its based on this or that but its in the style of a vintage car and my Dad will know what I was implying !!!
I have painted the picture on my encaustic card then layered it onto a linen textured card to give the effect of a mount then it has been framed in a handmade wooden frame (I recently commissioned this and several other frames in different sizes, colours and styles from a craftsman here in the UK).
This frame is 3 x 4 inches, black painted wood and has a recess so it looks like a box frame. I don’t normally add any covering to my miniature paintings but this frame has a perfex front. As the box of the frame is deep and the painting texture not too high in this picture the covering doesn’t come near the wax paint. As with most painting medium it is recommended that the picture does NOT touch the glass, with all my paintings, large or in miniature I recommend that if you are going to frame a piece of Art In Wax you ensure that the painting is mount in such a way that the glass does not touch the wax, equally I personally feel they look great without a covering at all, as the wax has a lovely texture and sheen.
This painting is not for sale as its for my Dad, but don’t forget I paint commissions too 😉
