The Gallery Miniature Art By Hazel Rayfield

So today I’ve been in The Gallery……

The Gallery is my 1:12th Miniature Art Gallery that my husband Adrian built for me a few years ago, and as I’m sure many miniature and dollhouse creators and collectors will be able to relate to …… it is forever evolving.

Adrian has never built a full miniature property before, he is very patient and meticulous making a beautiful miniature property that I have filled with tiny pieces of my art. I just love it !!!

As I say it is evolving and I like to add things and change thing around from time to time. Today I have been replacing some older pictures and adding a few in the gaps, there isn’t much wall space left now !

Just some of today’s changes, the parrot paintings replace the flowers pots and the roses replace the vase of blooms.

How about a little tour ….. Please see at the bottom of this post a tour of The Gallery today once I finished my picture hanging.

Filming yourself hanging a painting on the wall of a miniature property is not easy lol

Diorama Miniature Display Art By Hazel Rayfield :: Posted by: Hazel on January 23rd, 2020

Collecting Miniature Art

“Everywhere I look I see Hazel’s paintings”

Miniature rose

This is the lovely message I received from Susan today, and wow all “I can see is an amazing collection of miniatures” so much to see and enjoy.

Susan has a lovely collection of my paintings on display in her miniature dioramas and scenes, she doesn’t have a dollhouse but these wonderful creations are set on display shelves and units.

Susan who lives in the state of Washington USA has been collecting my paintings since 2017 and has also commissions me several times too for her own collection and for her to give as gifts.

The Artist Studio

Susan’s miniature artist studio set has lots of my paintings and I’m very honoured to see these paintings in situ, it’s great to see my work in their new homes.

Special Commission

It was in January 2018 so two years ago, Susan asked me to paint a very special commission…… and you can see the Yosemite Park and Sunset Yosemite Park on easels above, I have written more on this commission as I blogged about this at the time : www.artinwax.co.uk/blog/miniature-dollhouse-art-yosemite-national-park/

An Incredible Collection

From the wonderful kitchen to fun Christmas scene which has some amazing miniature pieces and a wonderful decorated Christmas tree as you can see.

I really like her drawing board and vintage camera set ….. all done with such a clever eye for detail….. there are also wonderful displays of dresses, hats and mannequins, as if a department store was there in miniature  and there is even a fabulous medical surgery.

I just love seeing my paintings on the walls etc, it brings them to life, the window painting on the wall in the bedroom, vintage cupcake plaque in the kitchen, the tree of life and of course the Christmas trees. Plus so much more, the wedding dress painting, the winter landscapes and hummingbird too.

Miniature Art on display

I would like to thank Susan for taking the time to help me with this feature and taking the photos. It is very much appreciated.

I hope you enjoy seeing this feature please leave a comment below.

……. and if you own some of my art and would like to be featured just get in touch.

How to paint a dolls house miniature painting :: Posted by: Hazel on March 13th, 2019

How this went from this to this dollhouse art

How I painted this dolls house miniature painting

I’ve been taking some step by step photos of how I painted this new floral arrangement miniature dollhouse painting.

As I am an encaustic artist, painting using heat tools it was not easy to paint and hold the camera!

The stages of my latest miniature painting

You can see the stages as I layered the wax paint, I started with an Encaustic gloss card with was cream colour, layering gold wax to start the background.

Putting in the basis of the basket and then the leaves and the flowers, the edge is painted on in a silver wax paint to give a nice finish and highlight to the piece.

The painting then gets a light polish with a soft cloth, painting the wax is Matt in finish this little polish brings the depth and sheen to life.

This painting is in a Streets Ahead frame and shown here in my own 1:12th Gallery.

New Miniature Art In Wax Dolls House Paintings – Period Style !

“The Lady In The Sitting Room”

This new piece of my miniature art for a dollhouse has a lady of a period (you decide) with her sewing and her aspidistra planter on the table by the fire place, this is definitely the Lady of the house’s Room with her pink drapes at the window.
I have layered this painting on a rustic painted card for an antique look and it is for sale in a wood frame, the frame is handmade, especially for my art, bespoke in fact by a uk craftsman. Size 2 x 2 1/2 inches overall when framed. The frame is front loading so the painting is stuck in.

A Miniature Challenge

My husband likes to challenge me ….
And after recently seeing my miniature sewing machine painting said “you could do a spinning wheel “ so I thought why not I’ll give it a go !!! This what I’ve come up with…….

“The Cat In The Spinning Room”

A period style scene with a cat in the foreground and a lady using a spinning wheel in the background, this tiny painting has lots of details and is very much a new style for my miniature art. I felt this painting needed a more ornate frame so it is for sale in the gold effect frame, which is a Streets Ahead miniature. Overall size including the frame is 2 1/2 x 2 inches approx.
