Art In Wax : Encaustic Art By Hazel Rayfield
The Queens Platinum Jubilee Miniature Art Collection :: Posted by: Hazel on April 27th, 2022
1952 to 2022 Celebration of 70 years.
2022 sees Her Majesty The Queen reach her Platinum Jubilee.
Queen Elizabeth II is celebrating 70 years of her reign in this country, the first British Monarch to celebrate a Platinum Jubilee.
There are lots of events and celebrations going on for the Jubilee, in the life size world and in the miniature world. I have put together a display of paintings in a “London – Royal – Celebration” theme.
Are you having a Miniature Dolls’ House celebration ?
The paintings shown here in my 1:12th scale Dolls House size Art Gallery are available to buy to have in your celebration room or diorama.
I am also open to miniature commissions in this theme. Please Contact me for more details.
The celebration starts in June.
Thursday 2nd June : The Queen’s Birthday Parade Trooping the Colour – so I just had to paint a guardsman.
and I couldn’t resist a beefeater or two ….. ravens too of course
Friday 3rd June : Service of Thanksgiving
Saturday 4th June The Derby at Epsom Downs.
The Queen loves the horse races and my ladies are dressed up for the races and waving their flags.
Sunday 5th June : The Big Jubilee Lunch. Street parties and pageants. So we needed a cake of course … Victoria Sandwich with Royal Icing.
And we must have flowers of course. I believe Her Majesty The Queen likes Lilly of the valley so there are a few in my Red, White and Blue Bouquet.

Take a Tour of The Gallery

Harry Potter Dollhouse Miniature Art :: Posted by: Hazel on February 19th, 2022
Harry Potter Dollhouse Miniature Art
So I have a story to tell …..
How I came to be painting my latest series of miniature paintings.
Harry Potter Inspired miniature art.
I was video chatting with my nephew, he’s a grown up, a real dude and definitely a geek. And in the background was his Lego Hogwarts that he had built. So just for fun I painted him a picture, well my interpretation of Hogwarts and mailed it to him. He loved it.
I showed it online and one of my collectors asked me to paint her one similar as a commission, this lead to another piece and so on.
Then after a long conversation with my nieces I started to discover the real magic of Harry Potter and how much fun it is paint. Everyone seems to have favourite characters and ok I confess I haven’t really taken much notice until now, but I’m loving painting some miniatures of this wonderful world of wizardry …….
The painting in the Centre is my nephew’s, the others, hedwig, patronus, the castle of Hogwarts of course are the others that followed. Some of these are available in my Etsy shop. Some of these and others have gone to new homes, dollhouses and miniature art collections in Scotland, the Midlands, Kent and a few flown over to America.
I am open to commissions, so if you would like one please contact me.

Half Scale Miniature Dollhouse Art :: Posted by: Hazel on January 26th, 2022
Half Scale / 1: 24th Miniature Dollhouse Art
I was recently invited to be the featured artist in a Facebook Group dedicated to Half Scale Dollhouse Miniatures and these are the pictures and paintings I used for my “Show and Tell” presentation.
Dolls House Art Sizes and Scale
My miniature paintings range in size and can be suitable for different and scale dolls houses and miniature properties from 1:24th and 1:12th scale plus other diorama such as bjd, Barbie and fashion doll size. I have painted commissions for scales in between too and bespoke sizes as requested
What one feels is an appropriate piece of art for a space, maybe considered to large for another maybe a statement piece in another.
It’s all relative and personal choice I feel.
This is my miniature half scale section on Etsy.

New for the start of 2022 :: Posted by: Hazel on January 14th, 2022
A new year …… and lots of new paintings and commissions…..
The four seasons of garden and the raven in the window are a lovely set of miniature paintings off to a miniature art collector in London who inspired me this week ….. Thank you Sarah …. Your photos really were inspiring.
The Cats and The CanCan Dancers were both commissions by different collectors.
The set of four black cats are going into a collection of dolls houses in Seattle and the Can Can dancers and moulin rouge posters were painted especially small to go into a tiny scale bistro in Maryland. The black cat in the garden is staying closer to home in a London collectors collection
Getting Ready for Valentines….. miniature red rose bouquets and a cute Teddy bear.
These miniature paintings are currently available to buy in my Etsy shop.
Yes I’m an eclectic artist….. I love to paint and these are some of my latest miniature paintings
