Commissioning Miniature Art
New Commission Canadian Landscape Paintings
Today I airmailed four miniature paintings to Ottawa.
Last week I was contacted by lady in Canada who has a growing “little collection” of my miniature paintings, and whom I painted a special commission in a January.
This time she sent me photographs she had taken in Canada spanning the last 10 years, the brief being could I paint her a set of miniature paintings in the style of these landscape scenes……
As you will be aware if you have read my blog before, I’m an original artist, so when, like in this case, working from photos, the paintings still have a style of my own work and therefore I like to think of it as giving an impression of the scene not a direct copy, thus making it an original piece of my “Art In Wax”.
This commission was a challenge I must admit, when I first saw the photos I thought “this is going to be a fun project” which it was, I love to paint sunsets and winter landscapes, however it was the sunset that was the most challenging of these and took as many hours as the others paintings all put together….. it’s funny how that happens sometimes, but I’m happy with the results and so is the buyers I’m really happy to say.
To quote her …. “Wow – I love them all – Thank you so much”
A few facts …..
The mountain landscape I’m told the photograph was taken in Jasper BC is the largest of the paintings and 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. The lady asked me to frame this one so framed the overall size is 4 x 3 inches
Snow river, as I’m calling it was the smallest and is 2 x 1 5/8th inches
Sunset lake, a real challenge ! Is 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches
Autumn Lane, the path leading off into the distance is 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches.
