Grand Opening : Art In Wax : The Gallery

The Gallery Our 1:12 Scale Art Gallery

It is with great pleasure we announce the opening of “The Gallery”

Below are some photographs taken by Adrian this week of the finished gallery project which now houses some of my original miniature paintings.

A Fun Project

My husband Adrian and I have had a lot of fun building The Gallery, he must take credit for all the work, he has been the project manager, builder, decorator and he has created a beautiful space to display and show my art in wax miniatures.

Details of the build, such as how we started with a kit and created this wonderful space, the paint colours, plus how the floor and lights etc were fitted can all be read in our post “The workmen have finished“.

The Paintings

Now the paintings are hung the Art Gallery really has come together. The paintings are of various subjects and would suit many different style of miniature property, from grand doll house Manor Houses, to Cafe’s and Modern miniature homes. Paintings range from traditional Landscapes, Seascapes, Floral and flower subjects, including some sunflowers, poppies and vases of pretty blooms, plus some Fish paintings and lots more.

Some of the paintings have been framed in various style of frame, others have been mounted on to mount board to give the effect of a canvas style picture, I especially like these and they would look great in a modern dolls house.

Finishing Touches

The easels Adrian build are wonderful for displaying the artwork and these together with the little extras we have made, like the brochures and laptop screen saver bring a touch of Art In Wax online into the The Gallery.

The suitcases we sourced from a miniature fair, these provide a stand for the art exhibit brochures and the paper weight you might notice is an iron …… as I use heat tools, one of which looks like a mini iron I thought it would be fun to include an iron as a fun and quirky finishing touch.

Thank you Clare Jennifer and Stephie, it has been a great fun project …….. I am hooked on miniatures now so think this will be an on going project 🙂

We attached the paintings to the walls using a product called Tacky Wax Stephie which we sourced at one of the Miniature fairs we went too a few weeks ago.

Mark from The Dolls’ House Builder sent your link to me. When you spoke to me at our fair in Rayleigh last Sunday, I didn’t realise how fantastic the finished result would be, it’s truly amazing.

Thank you Julie, Margaret and Dallas Glad you like The Gallery, It has taken us several weeks both to build and for me to paint the over 40 miniature that it now displays – its been great fun 🙂

@Janice Thanks you, nice to meet you at the fair. Yes Adrian has built The Gallery from one of Mark’s kits but also made it our own, I am really pleased with the finish, Adrian has worked very hard on it, fitting spot lighting, flooring etc plus making the easels. We got some of the finishing touches and furnishings from the wonderful stall holders on that day we met at the fair.

I am so impressed!! It is wonderful. Our former Executive Director of MidCoast Fine Arts called it an amazingly fun marketing Peek Show. Two thumbs up!!
I was drawn to a large, 3 story Victorian Doll House at Hobby Lobby a couple of weeks ago and stood there with visions of an Art Center dancing in my head….multi srtist studios etc. Alas, The cost of the kit is prohibitive plus I didn’t want to tread on your wonderful creation but you truly are an inspiration.
    Thanks for sharing!

Thank you Donna the response to our miniature Art Gallery has been amazing 🙂

An Art Center in miniature would be great fun – go for it !!!! I am tempted to do a studio one, like a beach hut perhaps ……. But I am very taken with this so think I will stick with The Gallery 🙂

So sorry I missed the Grand Opening Hazel.
I have been a way in Wales for a few days.

The Gallery is stunning! So detailed and I love the fact that it is contemporary. Such a good showcase for your miniature art.

Love the laptop and desk. And the suitcases and iron are lovely.

I now think that I want to create an old fashioned second hand book shop in miniature when I have completed my dolls’ house.
