Art Gallery 1:12th Scale :: Posted by: Hazel on July 28th, 2020

Art Gallery 1:12th Scale

The Gallery is my folly……

I have painted for many years, Encaustic about nine years now.

Adrian my husband built  The Gallery for me some years ago, when I had been painting in miniature and for dolls houses a while and it was just a natural progression. I have blogged many times about the Gallery including a back story …… See below for more on that

My Art Gallery ….. Take The Tour 2020

I wasn’t brave enough to go Facebook Live but this is inside my Art Gallery right now …..

My miniature art is for sale, I have a wide range of subjects and themes online for sale, links in the Blog side border to my Etsy Store.

The paintings on the walls of the gallery are not available to buy but if you like one why not commission me to paint one for you.

The Gallery : The Back Story

When we were planning and building The Gallery some years ago we (my husband Adrian – he built it for me, I just paint the pictures) chatted and a “back story” developed over time so just for fun I wrote a blog post share our (frictional) story …….

The property at 27 Coast Road is a Victorian double fronted shop property which started life as a bakery called The Granary…. more on my blog https://www.artinwax.co.uk/blog/the-gallery-112-scale-miniature-scene-art-gallery/

Miniature Art Commission Canada Rocky Mountains :: Posted by: Hazel on July 15th, 2020

Commissioning Miniature ArtFour paintings of Canadian winter scenes

New Commission Canadian Landscape Paintings

Today I airmailed four miniature paintings to Ottawa.

Last week I was contacted by lady in Canada who has a growing “little collection” of my miniature paintings, and whom I painted a special commission in a January.

This time she sent me photographs she had taken in Canada spanning the last 10 years, the brief being could I paint her a set of miniature paintings in the style of these landscape scenes……

As you will be aware if you have read my blog before, I’m an original artist, so when, like in this case, working from photos, the paintings still have a style of my own work and therefore I like to think of it as giving an impression of the scene not a direct copy, thus making it an original piece of my “Art In Wax”.

This commission was a challenge I must admit, when I first saw the photos I thought “this is going to be a fun project” which it was, I love to paint sunsets and winter landscapes, however it was the sunset that was the most challenging of these and took as many hours as the others paintings all put together….. it’s funny how that happens sometimes, but I’m happy with the results and so is the buyers I’m really happy to say.

To quote her …. “Wow – I love them all – Thank you so much”

4 paintings with the photos taken from

A few facts …..

The mountain landscape I’m told the photograph was taken in Jasper BC is the largest of the paintings and 3 1/2 x 2 1/2 inches. The lady asked me to frame this one so framed the overall size is 4 x 3 inches

Snow river, as I’m calling it was the smallest and is 2 x 1 5/8th inches

Sunset lake, a real challenge ! Is 2 3/4 x 2 1/4 inches

Autumn Lane, the path leading off into the distance is 2 1/2 x 1 3/4 inches.

If you would like a miniature painting for your dollhouse or just a a piece of miniature art, why not get in touch and see if I can paint one especially for you.

New Miniature Dolls House Size Collectible Art

I thought it might be good to show a few of my new paintings today.

I am getting a lot of studio time at the moment, and both painting new and challenging pieces of my miniature art but also having some fun with favourites……

I have chosen just a few of my more recent pieces to show here, I hope you like them.

The Rock and Roll Fairies

A new collection called “Band of Fairies” was launched earlier this month and I’m showing four of these below, but there are others which can be seen on either my Facebook or Instagram feeds for May 2020 …… the ones shown here are : Rock Chick Fairy, Cello Fairy, Rockin It Fairy Duo And Pink Rock Fairy.

New this week 16th May 2020

“May Cattle” is a Highland Cow abstract modern miniature style with lots of pink and colourful paint. Shown here in my 1:12th scale art gallery the painting is 2 x 1 1/2inches

Another Highland Cow abstract painting This is “Golden Cow” and at 2 x 2 1/4 inches is prefect for 1:12th size properties. It has a slightly distressed background on a textured Matt card, the cow Is painted in gold tones and makes this a real statement piece and painted on a mount card support which is 2mm deep so lovely when on the wall.

I also painted the Paris View and winter doe in the forest this week …. as you will know if you follow my work, I’m an eclectic artist I paint what the mood takes me.
