The stages of a tiny Triptych by Miniature Artist Hazel Rayfield
African Landscape Sunset Dolls House Painting
I thought it might be of interest to show the stages of my latest Triptych miniature painting.
I paint using heat tools and specialist encaustic wax paints.
I started with cutting the specialist encaustic gloss painting card into the size I wanted in this case each piece is 2 1/4 x 1 inch.
Using a mix of red, orange and yellow wax paints I paint the sunset sky using a combination of my iron shaped stylus tool and hot air.
Then the landscape and trees start to form, the lake has a reflection of the sun setting sky and as the landscape evolved the path the ladies carring their goods, perhaps clothes and a urn for water the foreground takes shape.
Once completed I have given the painting a light polish with a cloth. I don’t use polish, varnish or sealer, just a light buff up with a soft cloth. This brings out the sheen of the wax.
I hope you like this little painting it is a dolls house size miniature.
My Miniature paintings are collectible miniature art –
Not a toy and not suitable for children.

A Teddy Bears Picnic – Miniature Art In Wax
How a fun commission turned into an exhibition
I love to do commissions (I only do commissions in my style – no copies or reproductions) and I was delighted this month to be commissioned to paint a Teddy Bear which will be residing in a Dolls House Nursery.
The bear in question was Top Hat Teddy (see photo). The brief was to, and I quote, “Surprise Me”
The lady who commissioned me has been a collector of Art In Wax for a while now and wanted a new Teddy painting for her themed room, so I let my imagination have fun with the project and come up with this small collection of Teddy paintings …..
It was great fun to paint these cute little paintings and I kept getting more ideas, so after a couple of days in the studio I came up with this new selection which you can see here on display as a “Teddy Bear Painting Exhibition” in The Gallery which is my 1:12 Art Gallery, which I have spoken about many times on my blog ……
Each piece is an original miniature piece of Art In Wax
Baby Blue : 1 1/2 x 1 1/2 inches approx.
Teddy Trio : On green card with a silver painted edge. 2 x 1 1/4 inches approx.
Flower Teddy : 2 x 1 1/2 inches approx.
Garden Teddy : 2 x 1 1/2 inches approx
Christmas Teddy : Painted onto 2mm blue mount card. 2 x 1 1/2 inches approx
Pink Heart Bear : With a border of broken coloured card just over 2 x 1 1/2 inches approx
Top Hat Teddy 2 x 1 1/2 inches in size.
All painted in encaustic wax paints they have a lovely texture and sheen.
These are miniature collectible pieces of art and are not suitable for children.

The Egyptian Collection Dolls House Art :: Posted by: Hazel on September 25th, 2016
The Egyptian Collection
New Dolls House Art
My latest miniature paintings have an Egyptian theme, following a recent communication from someone who is going to be building a dollshouse themed around tuts tomb, I thought it would be fun to paint some pictures in this theme, they would be great in a themed room or it had been suggested that they would work well in a period Art Deco style room or miniature property.
The four new paintings are shown here on display here in my 1:12 Art Gallery.
They are all for sale …..
Sunset river with pyramid in the distance 2 x 1 1/2 inches
Pyramid palm trees 2 x 1 5/8 inches
