Lady's Day New Exhibit of paintings poster

Ladies Day – New Exhibition

I have today uploaded a new exhibition to the Art In Wax exhibits page on the website. I have for a while been wondering what subject to choose and it just came to me and I thought I would roll with it …… it may seem a bit of a whim but why not and I have had great fun painting this new project.

An Encaustic Art Collection

The new exhibition has a collection of six paintings approximately 12 x 8, each of a Lady dressed in her finery, “Posh Frocks and Hats”. I imagine they are attending, an event; a “Day at the Races” perhaps, or a “Charity Ball” maybe?

One of the beauties of working with wax it has a wonderful texture and sheen that can be created, I have let my imagination run wild with this collection, and it has been fun experimenting with layers of wax and colours.

The paintings are a whim, they are fun, and are not to be taken too seriously, just enjoyed and smiled at maybe!

Thank you to my husband Adrian for taking the photos and making the paintings looks great in digital format.

New Year Art 2012 :: Posted by: Hazel on December 16th, 2011

New encaustic painting for the new year

Latest projects

Due to the amazing response I have had to my art since putting it online from the Summer this year and the success of the Art In Wax website, together with such fabulous feedback on my encaustic paintings that have been sold, I have been working on, and am still working on, a new collection of paintings to go online at the beginning of the new year.

A Sneak Preview!

I have taken a few snaps of some of the works I’m putting together for the new year, some of the pictures will go into my online shop and the outlets stores, these will be mounted and professionally photographed as will the ones I will add to the Art In Wax online gallery. But for now these are a few I have snapped to use in this blog post ……

They range from the A5 size vases of Delphiniums, Chrysanthemum and Tulips, to an A3 Beach Hut and Rose Arbour Walk …….

New Paintings for the New Year

Expanding Gallery

The Art In Wax online gallery will be expanded in the new year and be spread over more pages with sections for the categorises to make indexing and navigation easy.

Photographic Art Lily By Adrian Rayfield :: Posted by: Hazel on December 15th, 2011

Photographic Art – Yellow Lily

Yellow Lily
I may be the painter (Artist) in our household, but my husband Adrian is most definitely the Photographic Artist. This weeks see one of his pictures become available to buy online from an Art store that sells prints and canvas prints.

Yellow Lily By Adrian Rayfield

Adrian’s photograph of the yellow Lily is hanging in our hallway as a canvas, the photograph was taken in the Summer (2011) in our garden, we grew a bed of lilies this year and this was a beauty in the bunch.

Easyart and Next Art2Order

The photograph was accepted on the the Easyart website this week as part of their catalogue, it is also featured in the Next Art2order gallery for purchase as a framed print or canvas print.

Studio Art In Wax :: Posted by: Hazel on December 1st, 2011

My Studio – Where I create Art In Wax

Up until recently I painted at my office desk, we have a web design and a decorating business so the office is a busy place at times, I was limited for space and time, as when I am painting with encaustic wax I tend to spread out and make a bit of a mess!

A place to paint and make as much mess as I like!

About six weeks ago, mid October, we decided to create me a dedicated studio work space, it is still a work in progress, for example I currently have my sockets sitting on the desk, until I settle in and decide where best to have things put permanently, I have also inherited the decor, but I can live with the colour for now and the window gives good lighting.

I have had a tidy up this morning and thought it might be fun to show my studio, people often ask me how I create such details into my paintings and now we have the studio set up we hope to take some video for us to show here and on youtube of me painting. But for now here is where I paint and create my “Art In Wax”.
Art In Wax Studio

A lot going on ……

As you can see I have a lot going on, I don’t have all the irons out all the time, it depends what I am planning to paint. I do like to have everything to hand and to have some of my paintings around me, these change all the time, depending on my mood, and I tend to like the most recent pictures best, until there is a more recent one of course!
